Travel and Bunking

Travel

Driving

Road rage typical of L.A. drivers

From the 101 freeway, north or south, exit at Las Posas Rd in Camarillo. Travel west on Las Posas approximately 8 miles to the end at PCH/Hwy 1. Travel south on Hwy 1 approximately 4.5 miles to the entrance of La Jolla Canyon.

Flying

Los Angeles International Airport is about 47 miles from the La Jolla Canyon registration/finish area, or a highly traffic-dependent hour-long drive. Driving option 1 from LAX is to take the 405 north to the 101 north, then follow the above directions. Option 2 is to take Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) up the coast through Santa Monica and Malibu to the park entrance on the right. We suggest you check traffic on your digital device prior to heading north for the least-congested route. If both options look equally heinous traffic-wise, we’d opt for the far more scenic PCH.

Bob Hope Airport in Burbank is slightly farther from the start than LAX (54 miles) but it’s a considerably smaller airport, so in-and-out times are usually much quicker. Worth investigating for a possibly less stressful arrival and departure.

Bunking

Lots of options here: serene ocean-front tent and RV spots, tree-covered camp sites across from the Pacific ocean, hotels close to malls and major highways in Camarillo, and lovely downtown Oxnard locations which may be to your liking and budget.
